I attended a presentation by James Hosty in a Barnes & Nobles

book store in Ft. Myers, FL. on 1/31/96 and made the following notes 

of Hosty's comments:

1. Hosty believed Oswald did it.

2. Hosty claimed the magic bullet provided a 95% lead match to other 

bullet fragments recovered.

3. Hosty blamed the "jet effect" for JFK's rearward head snap. Hosty

said that a melon flies toward you when you shoot it.

4. Says no one would have shot from the grassy knoll since it was the

sheriff's department parking lot behind the picket fence. "No one would

do

it at 12:30 p.m. in day, it would be too bold."

5. Compared grassy knoll shooter to "a UFO landing with invisible people

that no one saw."

6. Hosty blamed the small flattening of the end of the magic bullet

as being caused by hitting Connally's wrist.

7. Hosty says that two large fragments found in limo were matched to 

Oswald's rifle.

8. Hosty defended Clay Shaw and discredited Oliver Stone and Jim

Garrison.

9. Says shot sequence was 1)first shot missed due to hitting tree 

(Hosty's words: "nervousness of Oswald")and then nicked James Tague. 

2)Second shot hit JFK "in back of neck" and then went on to cause 

all of Connally's wounds. 3)head shot entered back of JFK's head 

with a "small hole" and then exited through a "front right big hole."

10. Hosty said there were "retired FBI men" (that he didn't identify)

in the bookstore crowd that night.

11. Hosty: "Based on the info I have, there was no conspiracy before the 

fact. There was a conspiracy after the fact by United States

Government." 

Hosty blamed the coverup of information "after the fact" on the

possibility

of causing "an atomic war."

12. Hosty said that on June 19, 1963 JFK approved CIA plan to "get

Castro."

13. Hosty said that prior to assassination, Oswald took a bus to 

Mexico City, went to Russian Embassy where he saw "a KGB killer" and 

then went to the Cuban Embassy and offered to kill JFK.

14. Hosty said that on 11/27/63 Castro said that Oswald had visited 

the Cuban embassy and made a provocative statement like: "That SOB JFK,

I think I'll kill him."

15. Hosty said "Army intelligence wasn't involved in the assassination 

because it was against the law at that time."

16. Hosty investigated "sleepers" -- emmigrants who lie low for 5-10-15

years 

and then are activated as spies. His interview of Marina Oswald on

11/1/63

was to determine if Marina was a "sleeper."

17. Hosty says Ruby got into Dallas Police basement to shoot Oswald 

"by walking into basement past a cop." Hosty said a  a former DPD cop 

told him that.

18. Hosty said Ruby was an informer for the FBI, DPD and the mob. 

Hosty described Ruby as "on the fringe," and "the ideal go-between."

Hosty said Ruby was at the DPD "all weekend." (Nov 22, 23, 24, 1963)

19. Hosty predicted that had Ruby lived, his second trial would have

ended with a Second degree Murder conviction with about an eight year

sentence.

20. Hosty thinks Ruby killed Oswald to become a hero. "Due to Lincoln's 

killer who killed him was seen as a hero."

21. Hosty said Oswald said in interviews: 1)Admitted the pistol was his.

2) Admitted resisting arrest. 3)Oswald didn't act confused or say he was

a patsy. 4) Oswald acted like a guilty person -- "he answered what he 

wanted and didn't answer what he didn't want to."

22. Hosty said the Chief of Police stopped a planned transfer of Oswald 

on Saturday night after receiving a threat on Oswald's life.
