Subject: Statement Date: 27 Sep 1999 15:01:16 GMT From: dsperprod@aol.com (Dsperprod) Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com Newsgroups: alt.conspiracy.jfk In October 1997, Ray La Fontaine downloaded an Author Profile from DejaNews, Inc., now known as Deja.Com, Inc. (hereinafter "Deja News"), concerning Steve Bochan. It contained sexually- oriented sites/newsgroups. At that time, we believed in good faith that he had posted to these newsgroups. Subsequently, we posted messages on the Internet commenting on his postings to these newsgroups. We have since learned that in October 1997, indexing errors in Author Profiles were made by Deja News as a result of the technical problems they were experiencing at that time. It appears that this was the case with the Deja News Author Profile of Steve Bochan, in that Deja News' general counsel now states that there is no record of him posting to sexually- oriented newsgroups. We now believe that the sexually-oriented newsgroups attributed to him were probably false, and that he never, in fact, posted to these sexually-oriented newsgroups. We regret any embarrassment we may have caused Mr. Bochan as a result of these postings. All parties to this dispute regret any statements impugning the others' honesty or integrity.
