Paul,

I got your two recent messages, and I'm glad to know a little more
about the causes of the closure.  I didn't know that some people
were threatening lawsuits over the attacks against them that were
posted in the forum.  But, I still don't understand why the sysops
didn't simply expel those who were engaging in the unacceptable
behavior, particularly if lawsuits were being threatened over it.

The first time someone wrote a message that generated a legal
threat, that person should have been sternly warned and their
offending message or upload deleted without delay.  Then, if they again
went beyond the bounds of propriety, they should have been expelled, at
least for six months.

I'm still going to see what I can do about getting the forum
restored.  Perhaps I could contract to reopen it.  If I do, you
can bet no one will smear someone else's character and retain access
to the forum after one--and only one--fair warning.  However, with
a taxing full-time job and several other responsibilities, I'm not
sure that I could do the forum justice.  In any case, I will certainly
do what I can to get it reopened.
