Deer in the Fire
This incredibly poignant picture was taken in the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana on 6 August 2000 by John McGolgan, a fire-behavior analyst from Fairbanks, Alaska. Since he was working while he took the picture and so cannot sell it or profit from it in any way, he should at least be recognized as the person who took this once-in-a-lifetime shot.
