Note on evidence that is strong but indirect

• So far, we have assumed that all strong evidence is direct.

• But often the majority of strong evidence is indirect.

• It can build a solid circumstantial core that shows that a proposition is consistent with strong evidence while the alternatives aren’t. (SBT is an example.)

• This offers a Phase 2 for our epistemology: Phase 1 determines everything that is known to be correct; Phase 2 determines things that are almost certainly correct.
