(Editor's Note--L) Moscow Domestic Service 0300 GMT 23 November reports President Johnson's return to Washington and his initial airport remarks on the loss of John F. Kennedy.
At 1900 GMT the following item is broadcast:
"Washington--New U.S. President Lyndon Johnson arrived at the White House today.
He immediately met with CIA Director McCone and special assistant to the late
President on questions [of] national security McGeorge Bundy. Johnson then
conferred with U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk for a fairly long time. The new
President also met with U.S. Secretary of Defense McNamara."
At 2155 GMT the following is presented: "Washington--During
the meeting of the U.S. Government, which was held here, President Johnson asked
the members of the government to stay at their posts. Secretary of State Rusk
and representative in United Nations Stevenson, speaking on behalf of all
members of the government, assured the President of their support and consented
to remain at their posts. President Johnson met former US. President Eisenhower
at the White House."
