(Text) AP reports from Washington that the new U.S.
President, Johnson, has said that the United States will continue the war
against the patriots in South Vietnam. President Johnson called on all U.S.
personnel in South Vietnam, the agency reports, to help the new government in
Saigon consolidate itself. This became known after a conference which Johnson
had with the U.S. ambassador in Vietnam, Henry Cabot Lodge, and other highly
placed diplomats and military personnel. In addition to Lodge, the conference
was attended by Secretary of State Rusk, Minister of Defense McNamara, head of
the Central Intelligence Agency McCone, U.S. representative at the United
Nations Stevenson, and Special White House Adviser on Foreign Policy McGeorge
Bundy.
Lodge's report had been fixed by President Kennedy for 24
November.
