Communist Connections
Moscow TASS International Service in English 1931 GMT 23 November 1963--L
(Text) American news agencies and television stations have
broadcast reports based on statements by Dallas police officials who make only
one thing clear: they are attempting to link the Communist Party with the murder
of the President. Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry told correspondents that
Oswald, who has been officially charged with the murder of the President,
allegedly had readily admitted that he is a communist.
Reports are also endlessly repeated to the effect that Oswald
lived for some time in the Soviet Union, that he has a Russian wife, and that he
was either a member or a chairman of "Fair Play for Cuba Committee." However,
the more details that are reported, the more mysterious and suspicious the story
becomes.
One more detail has been added to the numerous contradictory
reports. According to the latest news, a letter has been found in Oswald's
military record in which he protested against his (discharge from the?) reserve
as an "undesirable." This letter bears the date when, according to previous
reports, Oswald was in the Soviet Union.
Serious commentators do not take at face value the police
version about the responsibility of "leftwing elements" for this monstrous crime
and continue to await the outcome of further investigations.
