First Report
Moscow Domestic Service in Russian 1955 GMT 22 November 1963--L
(Text) Comrade radio listeners: We have interrupted our
broadcast because of a mournful report that has just been received from New
York.
It has been officially announced that U.S. President John
Kennedy has died in a hospital after having been the victim of an attack by, it
is supposed, persons from extreme rightwing elements.
An AP correspondent reports from Dallas: U.S. President
Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connolly [sic] fell under the bullets of
assassins when they were driving in an open car today through one of the central
streets of Dallas. There were three shots. One of the bullets struck the
President in the head. The President and the governor were immediately rushed to
a hospital.
(Editor's Note: Substantially the same report was again
broadcast by the Domestic Service at 2002 GMT.)
