Khrushchev, Gromyko Meet Kohler

(Excerpts) Moscow--U.S. Ambassador Kohler today met Nikita
Khrushchev and Andrey Gromyko at the entrance of his residence when they arrived
there to convey condolences on the death of U.S. President John Kennedy.
Nikita Khrushchev was the first to inscribe his name and date
in the book of condolences. He was followed by Andrey Gromyko. They stood in
silence for a minute in honor of the memory of John Kennedy, an outstanding U.S.
statesman. The ambassador asked Nikita Khrushchev and Andrey Gromyko to proceed
to his personal quarters for a talk.
Heads of diplomatic representations were arriving one after
another to express their grief over the demise of the Head of State and
Government of the United States. Many Soviet citizens gathered outside Kohler's
residence to share their deep grief with the Americans.
