THE BEST NEW BOOKS ON THE JFK ASSASSINATION.
Information on ordering the books is provided at the end of this article.
COVER-UP (New York: Kestrel Books, 1998), by Stewart Galanor. One of the most concise, hard-hitting books available on the case. Galanor focuses on the key evidence of conspiracy and cover-up. He analyzes subjects like the autopsy evidence (to include disclosures from newly released files), the single-bullet theory, wound ballistics evidence relating to the president's head wounds, shots from the grassy knoll, Jack Ruby, and Oswald's alleged marksmanship. The text is artfully tied to numerous photos and drawings. This book is as an excellent introduction to the assassination.
HIGH TREASON: THE ASSASSINATION OF JFK AND THE CASE FOR CONSPIRACY, 35th Anniversary Carroll & Graf Edition (New York: Carroll & Graf Publishers, Inc., 1998), by Harrison Livingstone. If you want to know what we've learned about the medical evidence from recently unsealed files and from recent interviews with autopsy witnesses over the last few years, there is no better book on the market. This new information is critically important. It confirms other evidence of a shot to the head from the front and of tampering with the autopsy x-rays and photos. This book also includes an appendix by Dr. David Mantik on evidence of alteration in the Zapruder film.
NOT IN YOUR LIFETIME: THE DEFINITIVE BOOK ON THE JFK ASSASSINATION (New York: Marlow & Company, 1998), by Anthony Summers. This is a revised and greatly expanded version of Summers' best-selling 1980 book CONSPIRACY. Among other things, Summers answers the attacks on his research by Gerald Posner. The book includes an appendix by historian and former Army intelligence officer John Newman on the evidence that Oswald was being used by elements of U.S. intelligence (principally the CIA).
ASSASSINATION SCIENCE: EXPERTS SPEAK OUT ON THE DEATH OF JFK (Chicago: Catfeet Press, 1997), edited by Professor James Fetzer of the University of Minnesota. Undoubtedly one of the most important book ever written on the assassination. This book is loaded with new evidence, to include scientific evidence that JFK's autopsy x-rays have been altered and that the Zapruder film has been significantly edited. Please see my article on this book entitled "Historic New Book on JFK Case" for more information on this exciting new work.
BLOODY TREASON: THE ASSASSINATION OF JOHN F. KENNEDY (Rancho Santa Fe, California: Laurel Publishing, 1997), by Noel Twyman. Loaded with new information, this book discusses the alteration of the Zapruder film and of the autopsy materials, disclosures from recently released files, new interviews with key witnesses and experts, and evidence pointing to certain persons and groups as suspects in the assassination. This book presents information from newly declassified documents that indicates rogue elements of the CIA were involved in the assassination.
REAL ANSWERS (Spicewood, Texas: Paleface Press, 1998), by Gary Cornwell, the former deputy chief counsel of the House Select Committee on Assassinations. In many ways this is one of the best books I've ever read on the assassination. This is another book that would be a good book for newcomers to the case. The book's primary purpose is to provide the reader with an overview of the work and conclusions of the House Select Committee on Assassinations. Warren Commission critics will disagree with some of Cornwell's conclusions, such as his views on Lee Harvey Oswald and on Oliver Stone's movie "JFK." However, Cornwell presents valuable facts and arguments on such issues as the eyewitness testimony that a gunman (a second gunman) was firing from the grassy knoll, the suspicious deaths of so many witnesses in the case, the pronounced failure of the Warren Commission to seriouly investigate the possibility of conspiracy, the acoustical evidence that a shot was fired from the grassy knoll, the rush to judgment on the part of the Justice Department and the FBI in favor of the lone-gunman scenario, and Oswald's association with right-wing Mafia man David Ferrie.
