Saturday, 2 July--Pops Concert and Fireworks
From 6 to 7 p.m. the Bloomington Community Band played as we got settled and ate. At 7 p.m. came the hot air balloons and the children's parade. The Pops Concert came at 8 p.m., followed immediately by fireworks. The whole thing was extremely well organized. Best of all, there was no rain and no mosquitoes! (Comments under each picture)
The Bloomington Community Band, directed by Tim Moore. It is all-volunteer, with about 50 members. They are very active, and play about 20 concerts each year.

The Pops concert (orchestra) was held on the grounds of Ivy Tech, in the building to the rear. The band played under the tent to the left. Each table sat eight people. Blanked seating was to the rear of this picture.

As we were eating, the Pops Orchestra was setting up in the rear. The organizers awarded prizes for the best-decorated tables.
A few hot air balloons took off near the end of our supper, and passed right over us.
If you look carefully, you can see one of these guys trying to reach down and grad my hot dog. But I ate it before he had a chance. :-)

Here are the five balloons that passed over us. Soon after this, the concert began, followed at dusk by the fireworks.
