15 January—The VIP Lounge At Guangzhou Airport
On the 15th of January Mei, Xiaodong, and I flew from Guangzhou to Guiyang, Mei's hometown. The two boys fro the dinner the night before brought me to the airport, where we waited for Mei and Xiaodong.
Here are two scenes from the front of the airport while we were waiting for Mei and Xiaodong. The airport is adjacent to the downtown area (as was seen in one of the photos from the Chen Clan Museum), and will shortly be replaced by a new one well outside the city. It was unusually busy that day because many people were traveling to their ancestral hometowns for Spring Festival.
With help from Xiaodong's younger brother, who works for the airport, we were able to wait in the VIP lounge and board the plane separately. Here are a few pictures from while we were waiting.
