Here began a battle with spears. I gather that this is de rigeur in Chinese operas.
A spearman would throw a spear at the heroine. She would deflect it back to him with her knee. It required a great deal of skill, and wowed the audience, especially me. Sometime the heroine would whirl around, as she is doing here.
A tragic scene where the heroine's daughter was dying.
The daughter's body being spirited away, death sword still in place.
