A Walk To The Lake 1
The weather after the cold front was crisp, bright, and clear—just right for a brisk walk to Lake Michigan.
This is the view from my hotel window. It look east, in the direction of Lake Michigan. The main street below, heading east, is Kilbourn Avenue. I just followed it directly to the lake, first crossing the bridge, then climbing a little hill. There were bluffs along the edge of the lake, as there often are on both sides of Lake Michigan. If you walk west on Kilbourn, you come to Marquette University.
This is Milwaukee's major newspaper, the Journal Sentinel, right across the street from the hotel.
Looking west on Kilbourn Avenue. The hotel is on the left, and government buildings are in the distance. An arena and theater are on the right.
Looking east on Kilbourn. The Milwaukee River lies just beyond the trees on the left.
Milwaukee is developing the area along the Milwaukee River, which it calls River Walk. The arrow shows where I took the picture.
Usinger's sausage is a Milwaukee staple. I had one of their bratwursts at the airport, and it was delicious.
A little park along the river.
Life along the river—industries and cities must continue the progress in reducing pollution and beginning the rebirth of the River.
