Tour of Shanghai 5

Here is where we ate lunch, in an underground food court near People's Park.

We are now in Xintiandi (New Heaven and Earth), an upscale area that is attracting tourists as well as Shanghai's upscale youth.

A typical sidestreet in Xintiandi.

The streets of Xintiandi are lined with restaurants featuring French and Italian cuisine, among others.

There are also very nice shops here.

Here is Li Jin in front of a beautiful old wooden door of the type she likes.

Then we came upon the site of the first meeting of the Chinese Communist Party, in 1921. The original building is still there, supplemented by a newer museum that contains relics of the party's early days. This picture comes from the first floor of the museum.

A closer view of the floral display.
