Making American friends along the Wall
As we approached the summit, we saw that the last segment was quite long and steep. Just then we ran into an American couple, he from New York and she from Oregon, who had gone to school together in Virginia and were touring China. We had a very pleasant conversation, during which they strongly recommended that we climb to the summit. To repay them for this good advice, I offered to take a couple photos and put them on the Internet for their friends to see. She is Katie Bryant, of the University of Oregon (WahooKT@aol.com); he is Dan Barnes, of Edwards & Angell, LLP, New York City (dbarnes@ealaw.com). Katie reports that she stopped every 25 steps on the way up but that Dan apparently climbed the whole thing in one swoop and waited patiently for her at the top. Then they took the toboggan slide down. The Great Wall ain't what it used to be, Bunkie!
Dan was so happy he forgot about minding his tongue!
They thought I was coming too close while setting this picture up. But you see it worked out just fine.
