Hannibal 23 September 2006

On the last weekend of September 2006 I visited Jiang Yan (Janie), a new graduate student at Purdue University in Indiana. This was to be her first birthday in the U.S., and she wanted a familiar face to help her celebrate it. We took a driving trip through Illinois to the Mississippi River, which at that point separates Illinois on the east from Missouri on the west. On her birthday, the 23rd, we drove northward along the west bank from St. Louis to Hannibal, which is Mark Twain's hometown. The first five sets of pictures below represent the drive along the river. From Hannibal, we took a one-hour riverboat cruise on the "Mark Twain" (what else?).
As always, I recommend that you view these photos full-screen (F11 on a PC). Enjoy!
