Sunday, 4 January 2004, The Great Adventure With Miss Chen's Class 6The Small Temple

    Just beneath the big boulders was a small Buddhist temple. We visited it on the way down.

Here is the monks' vegetable garden. Note how dry the soil is—the area is in the middle of a drought, although not as bad as in other parts of China. A practical consequence of the drought is reduced electricity from the hydroelectric dams. Some places are even getting rolling blackouts.
