Xiamen, 31 December 2003–6 January 2004
I was invited to visit Xiamen by Dr. Chen Liqi of the Third Institute of Oceanography when he heard that I was coming to China again. I was to give some lectures, work with his student Wang Jiangjun, and generally enjoy the area more than I was able to on my first visit there in June 2002. Liqi had told me that there would be a special celebration of the Western New Year, and was he ever right!
