26b. Constraints from Rhead vs. Rbullet—SL6Amhead = 6 lb

 For mhead = 6 lb

vfrags, ft s-1

As before, values of vfrags are disallowed if they are <0 or >1100 ft s-1. In this case, no values were <0, but three at the upper right were >1100. They are shown in boldface. A group of values at the lower left were disallowed by tlurch, and are also boldfaced. The overall range of vfrags was 200–2320 ft s-1. This was reduced to 200–840 ft s-1 by the combined constraints.

tlurch, ms

As before, values of tlurch were allowed only if they were >0 or <25 ms. These constraints eliminated a group of values at the lower left of the table. They are shown in boldface. Three values at the upper right were eliminated by constraints on vfrags. They are also shown in boldface. The overall range of tlurch was 3–30 ms. This was reduced to 7–24 ms by the joint constraints.

vbodyafter, ft s-1

The speed of the rearward lurch ranged from 1.0 to 1.4 ft s-1, larger than in the previous page but still quite small. When masked by the constraints of vfrags and tlurch, the range of acceptable speeds, all rearward, remained the same. Although this did not quite include the observed lurch of -0.8 ft s-1, it was much closer than with a 5-lb head. This seems to mean that a 6-lb head is more feasible than a 5-lb head.

vcloud, ft s-1

The velocity of the cloud varies here from 270 to 420 ft s-1. The allowed values are 270 to 410 ft s-1.

vsnap, ft s-1

The velocity of the forward snap ranges from 3.7 to 8.2 ft s-1 overall. The constraints from vfrags and tlurch reduce the range to 4.16.7 ft s-1. This range is again consistent with the observed vsnap > 3.3 ft s-1.
