vfrags, ft s-1

Values of vfrags are disallowed if they are <0 or >1100 ft s-1. A large mixed group at the upper right contained values violating both criteria. It is shown in boldface. A smaller group of values in the upper right, contained within this group, were disallowed by tlurch. This makes the joint pattern of masking the same as that from vfrags alone. The overall range of vfrags was -35,340–160,100 ft s-1. This was reduced to 260–1100 ft s-1 by the constraints.

tlurch, ms

A broad zone of values of tlurch at the upper right was eliminated because they were <0. It formed a subset of a larger group at the upper right eliminated by constraints on vfrags. The combined group is shown in boldface. The overall range of tlurch was -14 to 23 ms. It was reduced to 6–23 ms by the joint constraints.

vbodyafter, ft s-1

The speed of the rearward lurch ranged from -1.4 to +0.1 ft s-1 (not including the diagonal zone of ill-defined values). When masked by the constraints of vfrags, the range of acceptable speeds was reduced to 0.2–1.4 ft s-1, all rearward. This bracketed the observed lurch of -0.8 ft s-1.

vcloud, ft s-1

The velocity of the cloud varies from 90 to 410 ft s-1, not counting the broad zone of missing values. The masked zone corresponds with only one exception to the triangular zone of missing and positive values in the upper right. The allowed values after masking remain the same.

vsnap, ft s-1

The velocity of the forward snap ranges from 2.8 to 6.2 ft s-1 overall. The constraints from vfrags reduce the range to 3.96.2 ft s-1, very similar to the previous pages and again consistent with the observed vsnap > 3.3 ft s-1.
